You told us what you love about your city in this year’s Love Shanghai Awards – and we threw in a few picks of our own. Now we’re ripping off the wrapping and showing you the crème de la crème of Shanghai. See all the winners below.
The only gig spot in Shanghai consistently putting on such a wide variety of original live music, Yuyintang is beloved by bands and fans alike – and with good reason. Their programming this year could have been a little more selective, but it’s still been another impressive 12 months for a venue that continues to be the heart and soul of the city’s rock scene, with a string of memorable shows from both local bands and international acts.
We, along with many in Shanghai, were gutted when we heard that JZ Club’s long- running Fuxing Lu spot was set to close, but following an emotional farewell they’ve bounced back with a stylish new space that still retains plenty of atmosphere.
People just can't seem to get enough of this smart vintage jazz bar. We understand – Heyday isn’t a live music venue with drinks as an afterthought, rather it’s a fully-fledged cocktail lounge with a live soundtrack, and you're certain to have a good night out.
