As if Shanghai's excellent coffee shops
and brilliant hot chocolates
weren't already doing enough for you, get ready for one more addition to the city's café scene: Canadian favourite Tim Hortons is coming to town. This week, the official Tim Hortons Weibo account
announced that doors will open on its first Shanghai store on Tue 26 beside the Shanghai Grand Theatre in Huangpu.
The menu looks like it's more or less the same as back in Canada, with favourites like Timbits and Iced Capps, but also with a few new items for the Shanghai market like a prawn ciabatta sandwich.
Founded by Canadian hockey icon Miles G 'Tim' Horton back in 1964, the coffee-and-doughnut franchise has since grown to nearly 5,000 stores worldwide. Last year, it was announced that the chain would be expanding into China, with some odd 1,500 branches planned over the next decade. As is tradition for popular new restaurants in the 'Hai, will there be super long queues
? Guess we'll have to wait until the end of the month to find out.
