Austin Hu is bringing back his taco pop-up this weekend

Here's one for your don't-miss radar this weekend, taco lovers.

Austin Hu (Heritage by Madison) will be slinging tacos with Chinese characteristics at Union Trading Company this Sunday 26 from 4-10pm. Taco Chino Redux! is the sequel to the pop-up's excellent first iteration in 2018. This time around, the choice of fillings includes crispy mala fish, kungpao chicken or hongshao carnitas alongside vegetarian options (vegan on request) Yunnan chilli mushroom and garlic aubergine – each served on a fresh corn or flour tortilla, priced at 30RMB per taco or four for 100RMB.

Non-taco fare will run from 58-68RMB with items like a twice-cooked pork belly quesadilla, mapo tofu nachos and two vegetarian selections, Xinjiang spiced potato taquitos and crispy baby corn dusted with chilli powder and Parmesan.

To wash it down, Union Trading Company barman Yao Lu will be mixing up 50RMB agave-based 'Mexichino' drinks – think a Sichuan Pepper Paloma or Mezcal Pandan Margarita – as well as serving no-ABV bevvies (35RMB) like house-made agua fresca and grapefruit soda.

We have a feeling that 'too many tacos, too little time' is gonna be Sunday's mantra.
