Sonic Shanghai Festival finally confirmed

It's on. Line-up and ticket details inside

Limp Bizkit
There was talk of Aerosmith, there was talk of MIA, there was talk of Carly Rae Jepsen, John Legend, Jake Bugg and Alt-J. And so what have we got from Shanghai Sonic (now renamed Sonic Shanghai)? Limp Bizkit, Beijing hard-rock old-timers Black Panther and 'musical genius' Li Quan. There's still a possibility that some bigger names will be added to the line-up in the coming weeks, but the trio are the first to be officially confirmed.

Having teased netizens for weeks with a prospective line-up of international stars, Sonic Shanghai finally announced plans for their Shanghai music festival with a press conference in Beijing today (yes, Beijing). Organisers have said that this is merely the first round of acts to be revealed from a bill that could feature around 60 artists in total.

The team behind the festival confirmed that the show will take place at Shanghai Stadium from Saturday 17-Sunday 18 August and that there will be a 'pre-event' in the form of British acid-jazz outfit Jamiroquai's performance on Tuesday 6 August

Tickets are already on sale through Damai starting at 280RMB/day and 680RMB/two-day pass and more names are promised shortly. For now though, it's Li Quan, Black Panther and the Fred Durst-led Limp Bizkit (watch below). We'll publish more line-up details as we get them.
