Factory Five, Saturday 25 February
Around Town editor Charlotte Middlehurst says: In time to celebrate the parting of winter, the fixed-gear cycling fanatics at Factory Five have scheduled their next bash involving your favourite beers and bikes. The idea is to ride around the city in a group, hunting down a series of pre-selected convenience stores and consuming cans of beer in under ten minutes. They will also be giving away free visors for every advance registration. Read more.

Xu Zhifeng: Butterfly

Art editor Sam Gaskin says: Four great shows opened last weekend – at MoCA, Around Space, Shanghai Gallery of Art and Leo Xu Projects – but if you also want to see works outside the gallery, check out The Bazaar Compatible Program, a market stall on Anshun Lu that’s been showing art since September last year. Their eighth guerrilla show to rub shoulders with mops and other miscellanea is Butterfly (main picture), an installation made with fishing line and red plastic basins by Xu Zhifeng. Read more

Shopping & Style editor Selena Schleh says: Enticing you with the promise of ‘designer frocks for a song’, local creative hub Studio No. 5 will be hosting a ‘Spring Cleaning Flea Market’ as part of its regular open day. Home to a raft of small labels, including FINCH (eco-fashion), Elsie & Elva (organic skincare), Elke Martini (quirky stationery) and chic French arrival Mon Nid de Boheme (kidswear and home accessories), the studio is housed in a lovely, light-filled converted lanehouse and is well worth a shufti round. Refreshments, including freshly squeezed juices, lunch treats and tempting sweet stuff come courtesy of – who else? – the Pantry. Read more
