Not Me is set to vacate its Dongping Lu home of nearly three years at the end of this month with the venue moving around the corner to the former Club Angel site on Wulumuqi Lu. The plan is for the new Not Me to become a dedicated live music venue with a capacity of 800-1,000 people.

The Club Angel space, below street level on the corner of Wulumuqi Lu and Hengshan Lu, has stood empty since the gay club was turfed out last summer just weeks after opening. The people behind Angel have since taken their brand to other clubs, hosting nights at Club Dubai and Circus Club since the closure, however it has always been unlikely that they would be able to return to their original home. They currently put on nights at MJ98.

Despite attempts at live music shows in the past, Not Me has never been able to support regular gigs and owner Sam Liem is hoping this move will enable him to create a mid-scale live music venue in the centre of town. The original Not Me's closing party will be this month's Clampdown Rock 'n' Roll night on Saturday 12 May. Liem plans to open the new Not Me two weeks later with an as yet unannounced line-up of bands.
