Pairs announce USB/video launch

Local duo to release eight tracks with Mars Volta producer

Local fuzz-rock duo Pairs have announced the release of eight new songs, recorded with LA producer Manny Nieto, whose CV features Mars Volta, The Breeders and HEALTH. They're also teaming up with new Shanghai-based video production company Redscale Studios who have made a video for each of the tracks from the new album, which is entitled Grandparent.

The releases will begin on Friday 19 October, when the first track 'Gig of the Week' and its accompanying video will be made available on YouTube, Tudou and Redscale's website. Redscale will then unveil a new track every day for the following week.

Friday 19 October will also feature a party at 390 Bar to celebrate the release, with music from the Acid Pony Club boys and a screening of the videos in full. In addition, a limited run of 80 USB sticks will be available for sale featuring the eight tracks, the videos as well as 'demos, letters, baby photos and probably a virus,' according to the band.

Grandparent, apparently recorded 'in a tiny shack way out in the guts of Yangpu', will precede the release of Pairs' Acid Pony Club-produced double vinyl album If This Cockroach Doesn't Die, I Will in November.
