Spotlight: elemoon’s wearable tech

Try ‘the world’s first smart accessory’

As much as we love an excuse to buy a new set of accessories whenever we make an addition to our wardrobe, we’ve nonetheless fallen hard for this incredible jewellery piece that allows you to change colours and patterns to match your outfit. Hailed as ‘the world’s first smart accessory’, the elemoon features a range of customisable designs that you can switch around depending on what you’re wearing.

Better yet, the elemoon can also be synched with your smartphone so that you can screen incoming calls and messages when you leave your phone in your bag. Contacts in your address book can be assigned icons so that you can tell whether it’s a call you need to take or one you can safely ignore. And if you happen to misplace said phone, rubbing elemoon will set off an audio alert so that you can find it again. All of which makes it perfect for a night out.

The only downside is that the innovative accessory won’t be available until February next year, but you can order one now through elemoon’s Kickstarter. Founder Jing Zhou, originally from Shanghai, tells us that she wanted to create a product that’s ‘versatile and fashionable, as well as smart while continuing to be chic’, and from the reaction the prototypes have been getting, she certainly seems to have achieved this. Zhou’s focus on female leadership has also seen her assemble a crack team of designers from the likes of Pixar, MTV and E! Entertainment to help hone the product, and Kickstarter have made it one of their highlighted projects.

elemoon pre-orders currently start at 199USD (100USD less than the proposed retail price). Not cheap perhaps, but very cool.
