Three on the Bund has opened a speakeasy hidden in plain sight in its new Japanese restaurant Shinpaku. There’s not too much hush-hush about the bar (you might notice a label posted for ‘3&Co Speakeasy’ near the elevator’s second floor button), but still you could sail by it on your way to the WC without a second thought.
Concealed in plywood structure with an opaque plastic façade, 3&Co’s meant to look like an employee office. Punch in the staff code and if you guess right, the door will slide back to reveal a cluster of standing tables and a small bar edged with dark walnut where you can sip on a rosemary gimlet or paloma with jalapeno-infused tequila and celery bitters.
