Part of the Ministry of Waxing, founded in Singapore in
2002, Strip is known for its cheeky approach to hair removal, stylish and fun
salons with a hip hop soundtrack and fun service menus that spell out exactly what
shape and style you’re after before you start (X- basic bikini up to XXXX– all off).
All in all it adds up to a waxing experience that’s less a cringing
embarrassment and more relaxing and hassle free.
Strip also pride themselves on their hygiene policy, each
customer gets a ‘personal wax pack’ and beauticians wear latex gloves and don’t
double-dip their spatulas.
Once in the private rooms, the waxer is friendly enough to
put you at ease but gets to work with surprising speed and efficiency using
specially formulated hard wax for bikini areas that reduces the pain (soft wax is
used everywhere else). After each strip is removed a hard press on the skin
eases the immediate sting and Strip’s own brand Ice Cream is applied at the end
which cools our slightly sore skin.
Regular soft wax treatments range from 120RMB (bikini line)
to 300RMB (full Brazilian), while the slightly less painful hard wax treatments
are generally 20-40RMB more expensive.
The process is hardly ouch-free, but expert technique coupled
with the quality wax (which smells delicious, - they have strawberry or
chocolate varieties) and a squeezy toy for wax virgins,
makes it quite bearable – and well worth it.
If you want to try total hair removal without the pain, they
also Power Pac 2.1 IPL treatments (Intense Pulsed Light, similar to laser
removal) which cost from 440-1,970RMB.
For male waxing see their co-ed salon on Wukang Lu.
