Tucked away down a quiet Jingan street, Shanghai's only carbon neutral hotel is a self-proclaimed 'project in sustainability'. Occupying a converted factory warehouse, the URBN use recycled and locally sourced materials. The interiors are made entirely from reclaimed or locally sourced materials, such as the walls of Suzhou slate or wood chips from traditional Hainan Island boats. The recycling concept is taken to quirky extremes with the reception area, which is made up entirely of stacked 1950s suitcases sourced from antiques fairs.
All showers are wet rooms with rainforest shower heads, while Garden View suites also feature stunning, free-standing slate baths in the bedrooms.
URBN’s new restaurant, Beergrdn
, is a beer focused destination providing a wide international craft beer selection and a contemporary casual Italian-American themed menu with a contemporary twist.
Rooms start from 1,500RMB, plus 15 percent service charge.
