300 Huaihai Zhong Lu
This British chain opened in the K11 mall at the tail-end of last year to much fanfare from expats familiar with its brand of fresh, reasonably priced, on-the-go breakfasts and lunches served up in steel and chrome interiors inspired by sandwich bars in NYC. With Pret, the beauty is in its reliability, producing fresh, serviceable sandwiches, soups, breakfasts and coffees in situ on the day of purchase that you can pick up easily and count on to taste good.

Breakfast here comes in the form of brioches, with fillings that include bacon and egg (with mayo, ketchup and black pepper), and egg and tomato (with mayo, red onion, and Italian cheese), both 12RMB. Marginally edging these offerings out as our favourite option however is the ham and egg brioche (also 12RMB), a perfectly serviceable breakfast snack-ette that’s the perfect thing to eat on the metro on the way to work.
