A new location for this '50s era vintage wonderland
Our favourite vintage shop in its new Wuyuan Lu location. The new branch is as much of a theatrical dressing-up box as the old space in 696 Weihai Lu artist enclave
and even boasts a cosy patio area for relaxing outside. The space drips with nostalgic glamour, with old typewriters, kitsch tea sets, old Abba records and jewellery boxes crammed with lace gloves. It’s as if you’ve stumbled into the secret dressing room of a 1950s fashionista containing all the things you wish you’d inherited.
The collection itself is refreshingly accessible – the rails are not rammed like so many vintage shops, but carry an air of sophisticated selection (owner Lolo, a stylist, has sourced everything from Europe) with standout pieces adorning mannequins or simply hung on the wall. Lolo Love Vintage has a great range of accessories, including hats from all eras (360-580RMB). There's also a cute selection of handbags, such as a small tan leather saddle bag (320RMB) and a patent box envelope bag (460RMB).
There are lots of pretty print tea dresses (420-880RMB) and a few pencil skirts and vintage-fit trousers. But our absolute favourite find is the hot-pink ’50s swimsuit (350RMB), with a low leg-line and big button and zip at the back.
