Celebrating the arrival of a brand new year, Long Museum, in cooperation with Hunan Provincial Museum and Changsha Grand View Culture, presents an exhibition of figure paintings from Ming and Qing Dynasties. Different from paintings that depict the literati class, landscapes, flowers or birds, which gained important status in the history of Chinese art, figure paintings, which were usually portraits of ancestors, family members and Taoist gods, became rather popular among the middle and lower class. This exhibition shows 60 exquisite figure paintings from China’s past and tries to present a special Chinese painting that ‘freezes life in the form of art’.
