Jiushi Art Museum presents a big exhibition in honour of modern master Marc Chagall with 154 artworks spanning the artist’s 60 years of career. Born in Vitebsk (now Belarus) in 1887, Chagall moved in and out of France from 1910 until his death in 1985. Influenced by major art movements such as Cubism, Fauvism and Surrealism, Chagall remained loyal to figurative painting and held true to his Jewish identity. This exhibition shows Chagall's iconic works from the early paintings of his idyllic hometown to those of his first wife Bella who died prematurely and from lithography prints of La Fontaine’s Fables to watercolour stills of flowers.
