According to a post from the Shanghai Municipal Government's official WeChat account, Shentong Metro Group announced that as of last Saturday (February 22) metro lines 2, 5, 7, 8 and 16 will stop operating after its last train departs from the terminal stations at 9pm. Morning operating times, however, are still the same.

The shorter operating hours are meant to give more time for disinfection and maintenance, but it's also worth noting that the daily passenger flow has dropped by 88 percent since the start of the outbreak. The city government predicts that passenger traffic will remain low in March and hasn't yet shared when the five lines will resume regular operating hours.

So if you're commuting and taking one of these lines, don't forget to check the final departure time so you don't get stranded.
