Shanghai fundraiser ChiFan for Charity is returning in April

We'll eat to that

Time to gather the gang and work up that appetite for a bit of community do-good (and to eat some fine food of course). Fundraiser ChiFan for Charity is back on Saturday 17 April, inviting top restaurants from across to the city to band together to host one-night-only dinner parties with 100 percent of the sales going directly to a local charity. This year’s being Pickup China, an NGO that raises awareness for environmental protection.

For those new to the concept – each restaurant donates a table to groups of four to ten people, which include a special multi-course menu complete with drink pairings (ranging from 300-800RMB per person). Then following the feast, all guests from the entire event get together – along with representatives from the charities – for further fun at a big ol’ afterparty (this year, taking place on the terrace of Cotton’s Xinhua Lu location) featuring more bites, drinks, subsequent dancing and a raffle.

The tables sell-out quick with many restaurants already fully booked but additional participating venues are on the way. Currently available, each with four spaces – the Funka Group’s latest Italian venture Italo (500RMB), Bund-side stalwart M on the Bund (800RMB), Jingan wine bar Soif (600RMB) and European fine-dining eatery Käfer by The Binjiang One (600RMB). Take note: if there are places with one seat left, single diners are more than welcome to snag those extra spots and join in on the food-minded philanthropy.

ChiFan For Charity is happening at restaurants around town on Saturday 17 April. Tickets are between 300-800RMB per person (buy tickets online).
