A pretty big update and promising news for those of us rolling up our sleeves in anticipation of getting a COVID-19 jab. A post on WeChat from Shanghai Foreign Affairs revealed yesterday that foreigners in Shanghai will be able apply for a vaccination starting from next Monday (29 March). The shot administered is a two-dose, China-developed inactivated vaccine.

On jab-day, applicants are required to bring with them – to their allotted venue – a mask, valid residence permit and form of ID. You’ll also need to sign a letter of consent upon arrival and be given the all-clear from a doctor before receiving it. The vaccine will cost 100RMB per dose unless you have Chinese social insurance (for which it’s otherwise free).

To make an appointment, scan the QR below. The service will be ready for use from Monday and after registering you’ll be given a text message with details on the date, time and location.
