A chance to cool off while looking at activist art in honour of Shark Week, dive in (literally) to sustainable Shanghai-based swimwear brand In Sharks We Trust's underwater exhibit.
Held at The Middle House hotel's pool, the exhibition is part of the label founder Miao Wong's creative and community efforts to raise awareness around the shark fin industry and conservation across the city. (The group also dedicate all net profits to shark and ocean conservation and make every costume using reclaimed fishnets).
Split into two photo series (one across each side of the pool), the Honor of Fins exhibit begins with 'In Way of Beauty', featuring photographs taken at Shanghai's biggest seafood market. The second part is the 'Sharks Chef' collection, including nine familiar Shanghai chefs and restaurateurs, all photographed in the brand's signature shark-print swimwear, representing a sustainable and conscious food future.
The show is open to the public from today (Monday 10) through Sunday 16 August and entry (200RMB) gets you two hours' access to the Mi Xun pool as well as the spa's sauna and steam room facilities. Proceeds from the exhibition go to support WildAid's global shark conservation initiatives. The In Sharks We Trust swimwear is also available to buy on-site, but don't forget to bring your own goggles and caps.
We have two daytime (9-11am or 2-4pm) tickets to give away. For a chance to win, scan the QR code below to follow the official Time Out Shanghai WeChat account (ID: timeoutshanghaieng) and send us a message saying 'I want to win: In Sharks We Trust' with your name, mobile number and WeChat ID by midday on Tuesday 11 August. We'll contact the winners on Tuesday afternoon.
