Laughing Ears' Illusory Time

Shanghai-based indie-electronic artist releases her debut EP

Shanghai-based indie-electronic artist Laughing Ears journeys into space on her debut EP, entitled Illusory Time.

Not literally of course, that'd be a bit over the top for an underground Chinese producer, but her in sounds from way out are inspired by the fictional planet of Solaris, which appears Stansilaw Lem's famous science-fiction novel of the same name, later made into a film by Andrei Tarkovsky.

To this end, Laughing Ears blends at times haunting, spacey melodies with beats that slide effortlessly from low-key to rousing, and sprinkles a little traditional Chinese instrumentation on top in places too. Every time we've seen her perform live in 2017 we've come away with a smile on our face, and similarly, this EP is a delight.

Illusory Time isn't available on an embeddable player yet, so for now you can simply click here to listen to it on Netease or here to find it on Xiami.
