The Rooster is a casual downhome block bar spilling out onto the street that appears to be a counterpunch to the Gallic chic from across the road at Le Cafe des Stagiaires. The beer isn't ambitious, with Heineken (35RMB; 25RMB happy hour, until 8pm daily) and Hoegaarden (45RMB/small; 35RMB happy hour) on tap, but their home-made slushy margarita-style cocktails (50RMB; 40RMB happy hour) are proving a draw.
Plus they serve up pulled-pork sliders (40RMB). There's also a small upstairs level with bean bags that feels a bit like sitting in a treehouse.
