Zen Massage is a minimal haven of dark wood flooring, spotless white plastered walls, pebbles and water features in a three-floor lane house on Wuyuan Lu.
There is beauty in the detail: the test tubes for the essential oils (jasmine, lavender, rose and five specially-blended signature oils); the wooden box for your jewellery when you undress; and the fresh orchids on each massage bed, but the real reason to visit is the quality of their massages.
As would be expected by the whole ethos of the spa, the Zen signature massage (398RMB/90 min) is all about relaxation. You won't get any painful deep digging here, but the masseuse does dissipate the knots in our back and neck. They have some unusual packages like a simultaneous foot and head and shoulder massage (198RMB/45 min) and other two-therapist massages, as well as more traditional reflexology (108RMB/hour) and Chinese massage (118RMB/hour).
