Shanghai's most ambitious vegetarian restaurant, WUJIE is an upscale brand from the owner of Shanghai's well-known four-branch chain, Vegetarian Lifestyle. WUJIE is a big step up from the casual Vegetarian Eatery in design and service.
The menu, presented on an iPad, is meticulously composed all-vegetarian cuisine, with ingredients like organic strawberries from Chongming Island and wild truffles from Yunnan. The building's six floors are themed on the five elements, the first floor being water, and then up through wood, fire (the kitchen's on the third floor), earth, gold and finally, a completion of the cycle with the return to a water theme for the sixth floor traditional teahouse.
