221 Maoming Bei Lu
It’s called The Crave – a longing in your stomach that can only be satisfied by one thing: White Castle. Since it emerged in the early 20th century, millions of Americans have experienced it. It’s what drove Harold and Kumar on their pilgrimage for sliders. It has even got a Hall of Fame. Shanghai, now you can find out what the White Castle hype is all about.

The China flagship on Maoming Bei Lu (beside other big American names like Goose Island Brewhouse and Hard Rock Cafe) brings its famous fast-food favourites alongside a few new sliders created just for China branches. First opening in 1921 as the world’s first fast-food burger chain, the team has been serving The Original Slider – a 2 inch grilled beef patty on a square bun with grilled onions and pickles – for nearly 100 years, deemed the ‘the most influential burger of all time’ by Time magazine just a few years ago.
